This program is run by a volunteer acting coach with over 40 years of teaching experience. His philosophy is straightforward: “Acting is About Acting.” Unlike many acting programs that rely heavily on classroom exercises and occasional scene study sessions, Coach Ryan believes the best way to learn acting is through practical experience. He offers nearly 40 performance opportunities each week, which he refers to as “Performance Labs.” If you can’t find the time to train, it’s unlikely you’ll have the time to become an actor. The remarkable aspect of this program is that all of it is free. In fact, in his Coach to Camera program, there are no fees at any point. This includes when you are promoted to the professional program.
Coach to Camera
This program is open to all actors aged 18 and older, as well as those aspiring to become actors. To get started, simply attend any Saturday orientation from 9 AM to 11 AM. If you decide to join, you can then schedule one to four performance slots per week, in addition to participating in a group class. There are no fees involved, and no audition is required.
- Attend Group Classes Up to Twice a Week
- You can choose from 50 Lab Performance classes each week, with a limit of 4 classes per week.
- You have control over your schedule. Attend as often or as little as you wish, as long as you show up or cancel. However, to be included in the professional program and be considered for casting, we need to know that you are available and committed.
- All performances in a lab or group class are filmed and available online for your review within 24 hours.
- Each actor receives a critique from the coach during the lab and a written critique each week.
- You have the opportunity to build your own acting team to produce a short film and experience what it’s like on a set.
- You will receive critiques both in writing and in person from Mr. Harris, a coach with over 40 years of experience in teaching actors.
- Actors can schedule their attendance online to participate in person.
Nickel City Players
The NICKEL CITY PLAYERS are a professional group of actors that have scripts written for them and produced by one of three film companies.
- The films are shot in 4K using professional-grade equipment.
- Each production involves a new film company and director, allowing you to enhance your resume with high-quality footage from films you can be proud of.
- A comprehensive marketing plan is included for all films, which entails submissions to festivals, exploring streaming opportunities, and making every effort to secure professional distribution.
- Actors are encouraged to participate in character development and discuss the screenplay prior to preproduction.
- Actors and crew members receive 50% of all gross profits generated by any film they work on, based on the amount of time they spent on set.
